How do I turn my Mac on and off and should I put it to sleep or turn it off? What are the new keys on my keyboard? What are some things I can do with the extra ports on my Mac? Where should I put my files? Where did that icon go / come from? What is Safari? How do I change my home page? What are tabs? How do I make it easier to see the screen? (The letters are sometimes small.)
Part 2
Address Book, iCal, Mail & Dashboard
How do I save addresses of friends and family? How can I email them photos and party invitations? How can I keep track of my schedule? How do I reduce junk mail? How can I check the weather here and somewhere else at the same time? How do I make sure it's safe for my kids to use my Mac?
What's Covered
We cover the basic use of Mac and move on to the features of applications that come with your Mac including Finder, Address Book, iCal, Safari, Mail and Dashboard.
Do I need to bring my Mac?
You're welcome to bring your own Mac but we have lots to share. Many of the features explained in class are part of the latest software and hardware updates so students will have the opportunity to work with new Macs.
I've just switched to Mac; is this the right course?
Absolutely! We cover all the basics: you will learn how all the things you used to do in Windows is easier on your Mac and everyone is introduced to the applications that come with your Mac.
I've been using Macs for a while and want to get better.
This is an entry level course but depending on your experience you may still want to take it before moving on to the next step: Mac 201, iLife 101 or iWork 101.
Do you offer this course on weekends?
We deliver this course as two half-days on weekends: part 1 the first week, part 2 the second. If you're ready for a full day of training, we also offer part 1 & 2 in a full day during the week.
Is there an exam?
There's no exam but we could always quiz you if you like!
What book do I need?
There are no reference materials required for this course.
What if I need a refresher?

Instructor Bio
Jason's enthusiasm and willingness to lead students to the answer without always giving it to them has made him one of Splice's most well respected personal trainers. He earned his degree in business and computer technology in Alberta, where he also obtained his Apple Certified Technical Co-ordinator certification prior to moving to eastward and earned numerous additional Apple technical certifications at Splice. Jason brings a strong Windows IT skill-set to Splice. Whether he's helping someone switch from Windows to Mac, or working to recover an accidentally deleted Powerpoint Presentation, Jason's skills are as diverse as his patience is limitless.
At Splice, Jason is a key consultant on government and small business training and support projects. He spends much of his time providing personal training for people new to Mac, and for people who need help with multimedia projects including Video Editing with Final Cut. During times when Splice's Service Centre is busy, Jason also steps in and helps to clear the backlog of repairs.
