Questions and Answers
How do I complete the certification?
In order to obtain your lifetime Apple Certified Technical Coordinator 10.8 certification, you must successfully complete both the OS X Support Essentials 10.8 exam and the OS X Server Essentials 10.8 exam. This course will prepare you for the Server Essentials exam, while ML101 | Support Essentials will prepare you for the Support Essentials exam.
When can I take the exam?
You can take the exam after the course if you feel ready. If you've never used a Mac before, a lot of the material may be new so you might want the opportunity to study, then come back and take the test. When you buy the exam with the course you have one year to come in and complete it at Splice.
What textbook do I need? Is it included?
The book for this course is OS X Server Essentials: Using and Supporting OS X Server on Mountain Lion by Arek Dreyer and Ben Greisler. It is included in the course price.
Will I be working with my own server?
Splice will provide you with one Mac to act as a server and another to act as a client. You can of course feel free to bring your own computer or iPad to take notes or experiment, if you'd like.
Do I need the course, or can I just take the exam?
Apple certifications are very specific and rely heavily hands-on experience and in depth knowledge of the subject matter. It's highly recommended that you attend our course to prepare yourself for certification.
What if I need a refresher?
At Splice, we allow give students an all-access pass to the course for a year. This means you can come back at any time and take the course again at no charge provided there is a seat available.
