About Professional Services

webuseourbrains_roundedStart right as you bring Macs into your business, school or enterprise. Splice’s consultants have the expertise you need to help you every step of the way, or just when you need it. Let us assist you from the initial planning stage through to deployment and then hand the project back to you at the end.

Initial Needs Assessment

You have an idea of where you want to go with your technology, but you’re not quite sure how to get there.   Tell us what you want to accomplish, and we’ll advise you on how best to get there.  We’ll make suggestions along the way about aspects that you may not have considered.   Perhaps you can consolidate four PC servers into one Mac server.  Or perhaps you don’t need MacBook Pros for your staff when MacBooks would be sufficient.  Bringing us in at the beginning means a cost savings along the way.

Planning

Every step of your deployment needs to be thought through, proposed, refined and adjusted in order to ensure that everyone involved is expecting the same outcome, and has the opportunity to put their thoughts forward at the beginning, as opposed to at the end of the deployment when it’s often too late.   Our project managers, consultants and inside writing team are adept at interpreting the Needs Assessment and breaking it down into achievable milestones, allowing for the phased delivery of your project.

Testing

For server crossgrades and data-migration, Splice employs a procedure that involves the cloning of your original server into a controlled environment that allows us to rehearse the migration prior to manipulating your live server.  As such, any potential kinks are detected prior to deployment and solutions are prepared and retested, allowing us to ensure a smooth execution of the plan.

Deployment + Training

This is usually the easy step, due to our planning and our expertise in Apple Information Technology.  Deployment can consist of putting anywhere from 1 to 1000 Macs in your organization , and then training the individuals at your organization in how to use the technology.  For PC to Mac conversions, we typically run an Out of the Box course first, so your staff are ready when the Macs are put into place.  Then we follow up with additional training.   For Server deployment, we typically execute the migration after-hours, ensuring that multiple fail-safes are put into effect in order to ensure a smooth migration.

Lockdown

If it’s on the internet, it’s going to be attacked.  Using our advanced training in Apple systems and security, we go through a methodic lock-down of your server in conjunction with your IT executive.

Monitoring

It’s important to ensure the upgrade / migration / deployment went smoothly even after the installation.  So, we include an optional service agreement that allows us to remotely monitor the health of your server.  We can often predict upcoming faults and issues prior to end-users noticing an error, and we can act on them to ensure the end-users never do notice.

Hand-off: Back to you

At the end of the project, your technology is just that – your technology.  We want your IT staff to be self-sufficient, and that’s why we include a custom training course that involves your IT staff to ensure they are able to handle the day to day operations of both the client workstations and the server.  There’s nothing less frustrating than having to call in a consultant to create a password protected website, create a mailing list, or even restore a password after a user forgot it.
