Job – Creative Mac Tech (New Graduates)

We’re looking for a unique individual – One who is able to bridge the creative and the technical fields. We want someone who’s as comfortable with a video editing timeline as he or she is with a Torx 8 screwdriver. Someone who knows the difference between when it’s time to add a crossfade, and when it’s time to use kapton tape.

This job is being provided with assistance from the Federal Government of Canada and the successful candidate must be a recent or upcoming graduate from a University or College program.

Mac Tech

You like to figure out how things work. You take things apart, experiment, put them back together and the next time you take it apart, you take it apart faster. You come up with systems to ensure the right screws go back in the right place, you pay attention to detail. You’re the kind of person that wants the interior of a computer to be as clean, organized and polished as the exterior. You take pride in leaving the campsite better than the way you left it. You fix things. You’re organized and personable. You might be a bit nerdy, but you’re one of the new nerd generation, the Nerd 2.0s – or Snow Nerd – you play well with others, you’re a social creature and are a great communicator. People come to you when they need to know how something works, or something fixed, whether you want them to or not.

This is what we want – Is this you?

  • You love building, repairing and fixing technology
  • You have some experience in a customer service or technical support field
  • You’re looking for full time work, with some flexibility in your hours
  • You’re licensed to drive (optional)
  • You can communicate technical things in everyday terms, to everyday people
  • You can stay calm and collected, even if the person you’re dealing with is getting upset.
  • You have a sense of urgency at resolving technical issues
  • You genuinely enjoy helping, inspiring and impressing other people
  • You take pride in the accuracy and speed with which you can service computers
  • You strive to improve yourself, and view failures as opportunities for personal betterment

Ideally, you also…

  • Enjoy creative projects, like editing in Avid, Final Cut Pro or Photoshop
  • Have experience with graphics applications like Photoshop
  • Understand and know some HTML

Here’s a glimpse of what the job is about:

  • You’ll undergo an internal training program to become an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician, and an Apple Certified Support Professional.
  • People come to you with their problems, and you provide solutions, without placing blame
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosis of hardware and software problems
  • Juggling your training and support roles, ensuring things get fixed right the first-time, on-time
  • You work with the other Splice experts to ensure you’re right track, eliminating second-guessing
  • You’ll document the repairs, ensuring there is a clean trail every step of the way
  • You’ll ask for help when you need it, and you’ll get that help when you ask for it
  • You may be sent on-site to fix a computer, or to pick-up a computer to bring it back for servicing

In the role of a Splice Mac Tech, you’ll make a difference in people’s lives, with a welcome smile and the ability to just make things work. In many scenarios, when the fault was the result of software and not a hardware failure, you’ll take a moment with the customer to demonstrate what wasn’t working and how you fixed it, so they can do the same in the future too.

Drop us a line. Include your resume, a cover-letter that’s customized just for us (no templates, thanks) and we’ll go from there.
