Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policies

It’s unfortunate when a course has to be cancelled. We’d like to be upfront with you and let you know exactly how we deal with those situations at Splice. Splice does not provide refunds, instead we provide credit that can be used toward other courses at Splice.

Cancellations by you with at least 5 business days’ notice.
If you register for a course and then decide you can’t make it, and you give us 5 business days’ notice, then you’re given 100% credit for that course. You can then use that credit toward another session of the same course, or any other course that we offer.

5 business days means we have five full business days during which to resell the seat we had originally reserved for you. Example: You cancel a course that starts on a Wednesday. We require five full days’ notice, so that’s Tuesday, Monday, the previous Friday, the previous Thursday and the previous Wednesday. Therefore, you would need to let us know by end of Tuesday of the previous week.

Cancellations by you with 3-5 business days’ notice.
If you register for a course and then decide you can’t make it, and you give us 3-5 business days’ notice, then you’re given 75% credit for that course, which you can use toward any other course we offer.

3-5 business days means we have at least 3 full days’ notice. So if your course started on Friday, you would need to tell us by the end of Monday. That allows three full days notice. (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).

Cancellations by you with 2 business days’ notice.
If you cancel within 2 full business days of the course, you’ll receive a 50% credit towards a future course at Splice.

Two business days means you cancel on Monday for a course that starts on Thursday.

Cancellations by you with zero or 1-day’s notice.
If you don’t show up for a course or provide only one day’s notice for a course, you’re given a 25% credit towards a future course at Splice. This policy is, we believe, unique to Splice. Other training centres will not provide any credit for no-show or 11-th hour cancellations.

Cancellations by Splice
It’s rare that we cancel a course. We’ve even run courses before with just one or two people, simply because we’ve been there – We’ve been the students, and we know how frustrating it is when a posted course doesn’t run. So this is our guarantee to you: If we post an Apple Pro Technical course, it will run unless there is a serious illness or death in the family of the instructor, and we’re unable to locate a replacement instructor. This includes Intro to Mac OS X for Technical Professionals, our Intro to Mac OS X Leopard Support Essentials course, our Mac OS X Server Essentials course and our advanced Mac OS X courses. Our Pro Apps courses (Final Cut, Adobe, Avid) will also run as scheduled, provided there is at least one person registered. If you find we’ve scheduled a course and then the course is removed, it’s because there were zero registrations at the time we removed it, and we opted to assign our instructor to another task. That’s all the more reason to sign-up for a course once you see it posted, as it locks in the course and you’ll get it. But in the rare case that we do cancel a Pro course, we’ll give you full credit plus $100 of additional credit, or a full refund (minus the $100 extra).

Use of Credit
To use credit that you obtained through a cancellation, you need to book your course by email or over the phone, as our online registration doesn’t take into consideration any credit you have. Keep in mind that if there is a change in the course fee between your original (cancelled) session and the next session, you’ll be responsible for paying the difference. If the price goes down, then you’ll still have credit. If a course was cancelled because we cancelled it, then we’ll protect the you from price increases by guaranteeing the course at the originally booked rate.
