Out of the Box: Free Training for New Mac Users

Splice is pleased to announce that each Wednesday in May and June (2009), it will be offering a free weekly orientation session for Apple Macintosh computers.  The orientation session is targeted to those people who are new to Mac, especially those switching to Mac from PC.

Splice has been offering Atlantic Canada’s only Apple Authorized Training Courses since 2006, and during our popular “Mac 101″ course, the trainers at Splice have noticed that most people who are switching to Mac need to overcome some very similar challenges, such as:

  • How do I “right click” ?
  • Do I need to shut it down?
  • How do I connect it to my stereo / home theatre system / home network?
  • What are those extra keys for?
  • Why is the menu bar always at the top?

In order to tackle these common questions, Splice has created the Out of the Box seminar and is making it available to the public at no charge through to the end of May 2009.  The seminar lasts for approximately one hour, and then we set aside some time after the orientation for a casual question and answer. During the Q&A period, individuals are free to mingle and pick the brain of the presenter.

The sessions are held on Wednesdays in May and June.  Doors open at 6:15, the seminar begins at 6:30pm at Splice’s 5th floor location at 1668 Barrington Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  There is no charge, however registration is required by emailing info@splicetraining.ca or calling 902 444 4225. We encourage you to be sure to register in advance. There may be a week where nobody registers, and if so, we won’t be here, so don’t leave it to chance – book ahead.
